Organizational Structure

Mercury Desk-Top Publishers (Mercurydtp) is an informal membership nonprofit organization governed by a multi-locational Board of Directors. Board members are therefore fiduciaries for mercurydtp. They act and serve only in the best interest of the organization. As fiduciaries, they have the responsibility to guide mercurydtp toward a sustainable and successful future through fundraising and logical, ethical and legal management of work, employees, volunteers and policies. The Board's altimate purpose is to advance the mission and exempt purpose of mercurydtp. 

Key Responsibilities

The Board of Directors exercises oversight over the employment of volunteers and staff for key positions of the organization. However, the Board of Directors also has the prerogative to designate one of the Directors to serve as Executive Director or Chief Executive Officer until such a time that the resources of the organization would justify the employment of  a paid, fulltime staff to fill that position. If the Board decides to designate one of its members for that role, such a Director should have the qualifications, skills and experience commensurate with the role. 

Membership

New membership in mercurydtp is restricted to filling vacant Board positions, and is strictly by letter of motivation addressed to the Secretary of the Board of Directors,  for the attention of the President of the Board, in response to calls for membership officially launched and publicized by the Board.
