Manuscript Submission Guidelines

 At Mercurydtp, we do not solicit manuscripts through third parties. We also do not accept submission of unsolicited manuscripts. We interact directly with budding writers through periodic calls for manuscripts. During such calls, prospective authors are invited to submit their manuscripts of original stories ranging from 5000 and 10,000 words in length. We do not currently accept manuscripts for picture books. Manuscripts must be in English, French or Spanish and must have children as main characters and audience. Manuscripts with animal characters are also accepted on the one condition that they do not contain scenes of violence, cruelty or vulgar depictions.

Due to resource constraints and the need to prioritize original works that will appeal to our target beneficiaries, we only accept solicited manuscripts from unpublished writers. Self-published authors may also qualify as long as the materials they submit have not been published in any form. 

Being a small donor-dependent press house, we are only able to publish a small number of new writers each year. However, we endeavor to give feedback on every solicited manuscript we receive.  Manuscripts that we judge to be promising but that we cannot publish due to resource and other constraints will be retained for the next publishing period with the consent of the writers.

It should be understood that the review process for a novelette manuscript can take up to 3 months or longer. We ask for patience and understanding from writers who opt to submit their manuscripts. Making repeated e-mail or phone inquiries will make no difference to our timelines. Such enquiries usually do not expedite the review process.  

All manuscripts for consideration must be in letter size and double-spacing. Please, make sure you retain a copy of your manuscripts because we cannot guarantee returning manuscripts to writers if they are not accepted for publication.

CALL FOR MANUSCRIPTS NOW OPEN

Mercurydtp is now accepting manuscripts from prospective new authors of literary fiction in the United States and Canada. The broad theme for this call is Environmental Sustainability to include issues of environmental governance, mitigation, climate change, global warming etc., at community, state, national or international level. Submissions should target students from 8th to 12th grade.

Manuscripts that should not have been published before in any form, must: 

 - be child-centric

 - be in English, French or Spanish

 - be between 5000 words and 8000 words in length

  - be multicultural  

  - have children or animals as main characters, and

  - be set in letter size, double spacing
